I was hired by Chef's Edge, suppliers of some of the finest handmade chef knives and accessories from Japan and around the world, to design and install traditional hand-painted signage onto the interior of a beautiful state building in the heart of Perth, WA. Chef's Edge works directly with Japanese artisan blacksmiths whose family history can be traced back hundreds of years, crafting swords for the samurai.
The goal of the signage was to showcase the amazing origins of Chef's Edge's products, a key detail that ensures top performance and build quality. The legends at Chefs Edge wanted to highlight the authenticity and quality of their products and believed that a hand-painted map would be the best way to do this.
I began by researching and gathering ideas for the signage. I worked collaboratively with Ben, one of the owners of Chef's Edge to make sure the signage was consistent with the company's branding and values, and that it would appeal to their target audience.
Once the signage was installed, it helped to draw the attention of customers and showcase the authenticity and quality of Chef's Edge's products. The signage ultimately aims to start conversations with customers and inform their purchasing decisions, knowing that they were buying genuine Japanese knives from reliable sources.
Overall, it was a rewarding project to work on, and I was thrilled with the final result. I'm glad I could help Chef's Edge showcase the amazing origins of their products and highlight the authenticity and quality of their knives.
